We hardly ever play with the meaning of shapes. It always seems not done. Until we were assigned to make a security training centre for cabin crew at Qatar Airways, that is. The Arabic world tends to think in terms of symbols much more than we do. This led to us broadening our vocabulary. We mixed symbolic culture, desert, nature and clever techniques in our design blender and came up with a double wooden grid shell in an organic flying shape with a green roof of several desert plants.

It is a true C2C building. Built with healthy materials. Adiabatic cooling combined with a green roof guarantee low energy usage. The offices and classrooms were built using local, traditional adobe building methods. The double wooden grid shell provides a light construction. The building solves the functional demand and enriches the biodiversity of Doha.
